1066 Harold’s Way, The Final Journey

It is amazing what you discover when trawling the ‘net’.

Researching ‘The Malfosse Incident’ for additional information in Walk 1 of ‘1066 Harold’s Way, The Final Journey’ I came across my own article submitted to Bohemia Village Voice in 2011.

I had forgotten all about it!

The first story is about the final walk of 1066 Harold’s Way, Bodiam Castle to Battle Abbey, and the second is an ode to Malfosse.

‘1066 Harold’s Way, The Final Journey’ – Walk 1, Battle Abbey to Netherfield, follows the footpath next to Oakwood Gill, said to be the site of The Malfosse and the final battle of the day. Although King Harold had already been killed on Senlac Hill, it seems fitting that Walk 1 should celebrate a victory for the Saxons.
