1066 Harold’s Way

Web Badge - Small

Thank you to Jeremy Gilliard of Calton Ramblers for this report – a pity about the mist.

Calton Ramblers, SE London, Walk on Wednesday 11 December from North of Thames Barrier to Lesnes Abbey

Although the weather promised to be good there was mist all the way from Charlton Railway station to Lesnes Abbey – so no views and we could not always see the other side of all the Commons.

We all enjoyed the walk and your factual comments from the 1066 Harold’s Way Guidebook.

We returned and ate at London Bridge although, we also had a coffee( but there were cakes as well) at  Charlton House SE7 8RE 0208 856 3951  . Well worth the detour to the west end of Charlton Park; operated by Greenwich Council and open during week days and I think at weekend do weddings etc –see website

Looking to catching up in 2014

Happy Christmas

PS: Have not been onto website but one walker mentioned that there were references to walks on website but no actual details – I have the book!

DC: Very true, the short descriptions are just designed to enthuse walkers to walk the Walk but you do need the BOOK.
