Three Castles and an Ironmaster’s House

Cranbrook to Lamberhurst

It is all my fault, planning a walk from Cranbrook to Lamberhurst on a Saturday – it is a public transport nightmare.

All the rest of the History Walkers come from London and Mark catches the train into London from Belper, Derbyshire so the return ticket to Tunbridge Wells and the bus to Cranbrook from outside the station would mean a later start but was perfectly ‘do-able’.

Scotney Castle NT and Lamberhurst is the problem – no weekend buses. And no local taxi firm to take walkers to Wadhurst Station so Stef’s taxis will come to the fore again (Stef is my wife).

When Three Castles and an Ironmaster’s House is published in 2015, it will include route suggestions that will make best use of all the public transport options but for tomorrow, we are stuck with Lamberhurst – let us hope that it is open.
