The King’s Christmas Message

Saxon Times 25 Dec 1065

The King’s Christmas Message has been made available for publication in The Saxon Times.

The King’s Christmas Message from the Palace of West Minster reflects on the year’s key event, the forthcoming consecration of the new West Minster Abbey.

The King said “The fulfilment of my lifelong dream to build this magnificent Abbey will serve as my memorial to this great kingdom and seals my patronage of the Church in England.”

The King also commented on his recent and continuing illness “I fear that my days on this earth are numbered and I am deeply touched by the concern shown by those close to me, especially my wife Edith and Harold, Earl of Wessex”

King Edward the Confessor

Regrettably the King is too weak to attend church today and will remain at the Palace over the festive period.
