What has become of the trams

The Secret St Leonards Walking Trail

Looking at the old sepia tinted photographs of London Road and Kings Road where once the horses and carriages drove and people walked the streets without a care for traffic and the shops had shutters and awnings hanging out over the street it is hard to imagine that scene today.

The trams came and went and traffic increased as the shops were modernised with aluminium frames and garish signs, all in the height of fashion, but one that has left us with a mish-mash of frontages.

The shops still keep a warm welcome and sell you papers and bread and meat and groceries and those truly scrumptious ‘Portuguese tart’. Who can resist a Portuguese tart.

Oh Sienna, where city ordinance dictates how shops look but that is just my view.
